| Wastewater
from the urbanized Spokane area is collected and treated at
the City of Spokane Advanced WWTP, which is located downstream
of the WRIA 55/57 watersheds.
In addition to the urbanized Spokane area, Liberty Lake is
also a municipal discharger in Washington. Kaiser and Inland
Empire Paper are industrial dischargers to the Spokane River.
Kaiser is also a discharger to the Little Spokane River via
Deadman Creek. Spokane County is also planning a new facility
with a discharge to the Spokane river below Upriver Dam.
Regional efforts to site a second WWTP between Spokane
Falls and the Idaho border are on-going to serve the rapidly
growing population in the Spokane Valley.
